Today ended up being a virtual repeat of Sunday. My back was an issue all day. We were treated to 25 degrees celsius weather which was very nice for a holiday! For breakfast we had an aeropress in the apartment and baked goodies from Whole Foods (a muffin and fruit scone to be specific). We then headed out about 9am for the same walk around Battery Park, but this time the air was clearer and better light than Sunday.
When we got around to the WTC, this time we went underground and through the mall. We had a bagel on the way, but unfortunately it had spring onion in it and so I only just ate some of the bread! We then visited a new Italian food shop which has loads of tasty looking food for sale. We got some bread and pizza to have later.
We stopped by a new coffee shop on the way back called Suited. It was a bit disappointing, but worth trying. We never know whether we will find another good spot to visit, but sadly won't be visiting this one again!
Once we got back, we had a nap with Gio. Kathryn cooked an early dinner again.
We went back to Manhatta at 4pm again when it opens. This time we got seated at the bar. Sunset is around 4:45pm, so this overlaps nicely. I had a cocktail called Gourd and Tailor again which is a tequila cocktail with spices which is one of their original cocktails, it's very nice! As they will make anything, I then had a caipirinha which is another of my favourite drinks. Kathryn had a vesper martini and then another Gourd and Tailor.
We popped into a wine shop on the way back and I got a bottle of white to drink back at the apartment. We went back to the rooftop to nibble on the pizza, bread and wine. It was such a nice temperature and we were able to sit out for a while and just watch the city.
Tonight was going to be an eclipse of the moon. It would be at around 4am so we wouldn't be up to see it.
In this photo the three white dots in the sky are airplanes coming into land at LaGuardia.
