Looking back today worked out really well. The plan wasn't too dissimilar to yesterday, but having a specific shop to visit worked well. The forecast was bad, but the rain didn't arrive until about 11am, and we thought it would be okay.
I had gone out early and walked over the Whole Foods to get some breakfast for the last couple of days. They had some stuff at Italy but it was just so expensive. It was Veteran's Day today, which is a bank holiday so it was quite quiet everywhere. So, the streets were quiet and it was quick to walk over to the shop and back.
On the route back I skirted to outer edge of the Town Hall park. I considered getting a coffee but thought we had had so many this holiday that I probably could manage without!
We left to get the ferry and it was just starting to rain. When we arrived at East 34th Street. it was very heavy rain and wind. We walked over to the shop which felt like it took forever. We walked past a big hospitals and what felt like many, many streets. Eventually we made it over to the shop, which was called Dover Street Market. I had never been before, but it was amazing inside. It's a upmarket streetwear retailer, so it is a very fancy shop, with a white interior and products over many floors. They stock quite a few luxury brands, alongside more streetwear/skateboarding/etc. brands. I finally managed to spend some money and brought a new hoodie and some shoes.
After making our purchases, we headed back to the Hole in the Wall cafe for some brunch. I was relieved to be inside as the wind was quite strong and it was raining a lot. The glass walls of the cafe meant you could really experience what the weather was like outside. We were planning to go out later, so had a more substantial brunch/lunch at the cafe. We both got the hamburger which was very nice but not too filling.
The ferry ride back was a little choppy, but thankfully quite short. It had stopped raining by now but it was very humid and windy as we walked back to the apartment. We had a rest, I started to pack a bit. We had dinner about 5pm, and then ventured back out to the find venue for the stand up we were seeing.
He material was really good and he had a really original perspective on everything. This was because he emigrated from Egypt to the US about a decade ago during the Middle East uprising. The show finished and we were back by about 9pm. We were quite tired from the night before so didn't stay up too late.
